once you go black...

So this is probably the most important thing that happened to me today. If you're a fan of BABYMETAL or like weird stuff from Japan, this will change your life. Pretty sure this is the greatest music video since...well I don't know. There really isn't an appropriate comparison here. TBH, pretty sure I've never identified more with anything in my life. This is basically how I think life should be.

A couple of things...haha. Just got home from a run (soreness!). Gonna attempt some postage tonight.

Speaking of Charmed, a few months ago I was on a Charmed message board and came up with this tl;dr theory about Prue's death, Paige's existence and how Wyatt's prophecy played a part in it. I'll post it later to see what you guys think of my fan obsessed musings, haha.

EDIT:

I came up with my own fanon to explain Prue’s death, Paige’s existence and the Twice-Blessed Child melodrama in the Charmedverse. Let me know what you think.

QUOTE
"When three planets burn as one over a sky of dancing light, and magic will rest for a holy day to welcome a twice blessed child.”

Season 5, Episode 15, The Day the Magic Died

In the mid 1970s, the Seer learns of the prophecy of The Twice-Blessed Child and determines that its existence will come forth from a specific concentration of good magic. She predicts that a Charmed One will mate with another magical being to produce this Twice-Blessed heir. Foreseeing the destiny of the Charmed Ones, the Seer also predicts any first-born heir to the Charmed Ones would grow into an extreme force of good with Prue as their leader. She foresees that Prue will become the Halliwell family's moral compass and that her influence over Piper and Phoebe will be extremely strong. The Seer knows she cannot let this future come to pass, but also realizes she will need the Charmed Ones intact to both produce this heir and vanquish the Source. This way she can steal the Twice-Blessed heir and raise this ultimate power as her own and become the ruler of the Underworld. So, while the Seer plans to dispose of Prue she also produces a means for the Charmed Ones to still exist in order to kill the Source.

QUOTE
Patty: Not that this is any of your business but I can't get pregnant anymore. Medically impossible. Excuse me.

Season 1, Episode 17, That Seventies Episode

With Patty already having a miraculous birth with Phoebe, another birth is near impossible. To ensure Patty gives birth to a fourth sister, the Seer uses her fertility magic to underhandedly help Patty conceive a child with Sam, which produces a replacement for Prue through Paige. However, the Seer needs Paige to be raised separately from the sisters so that her influence over them will never be as powerful as Prue’s. The Seer uses paranoia crystals (seen in Season 7, Episode 12, Extreme Makeover: World Edition) to induce an extreme fear of The Elders into Grams, Patty, and Sam regarding Paige’s safety. This leads to Paige being given up for adoption for her own protection.

QUOTE
Patty: We wanted to keep the baby, of course. But mother –

Grams: Well, I – I knew it would be disastrous. You know, before you and Leo, Piper, it wasn't just forbidden. It was unthinkable for witches to be with whitelighters. I mean, let alone have children with them.

Patty: So, that's why we had to – why we decided… to give the baby up. Sam and I took her to a local church as soon as she was born. And we asked the nun there to find a home for her, and she found one. A very, very good home.

Grams: Yes.

Leo: Explains why the Elders didn't know about her.

Season 4, Episode 1, Charmed Again, Part 1

Fast forward over two decades later, when the Charmed Ones have grown in power, behind the scenes the Seer suggests that the Triad send the half-human Belthazor after the Charmed Ones. The Seer even discretely advises Cole that Phoebe is the key to getting close to the sisters. The Seer knows tapping into his human half to infiltrate the Charmed Ones' lives will cause Cole to fall in love with Phoebe. Thus, a Charmed One will mate with a demon to produce the Twice-Blessed Child.

QUOTE
Cole: The wedding was child's play, a perk if you will. I'm focusing my attentions on Phoebe, she's my way in. You sent me up to find out how to destroy them, I'd say we're well on our way.

Season 3, Episode 2, Magic Hour

After Phoebe and Cole's romance grows stronger towards the end of season three, the Seer manipulates the Oracle into advising the Source to send his assassin Shax after Dr. Griffiths. This is under the claim Dr. Griffiths is a threat to the goals of evil. In fact, this is a rouse to set up the death of Prue. The reason the Seer doesn’t advise the Source to send Shax after the Charmed Ones directly is because she doesn’t want all three dead, just Prue. She knows Prue will, rather than lose an innocent, risk her own life to save his resulting in her death and leaving the remaining two sisters alive to eventually connect with Paige. When Piper almost becomes a casualty as well, the Seer prevents the Oracle from realizing Leo is in the Underworld, which allows him to orb out with Phoebe and get back to the manor in time to heal Piper, but not Prue.

QUOTE
The Source: One gone ends the threat. Of course, if you had foreseen that a whitelighter was going to help Belthazor save his witch, they'd all be gone. Be grateful I don't turn you into a snake.

Season 4, Episode 1, Charmed Again, Part 1

Following Prue’s death the Seer bides her time and waits for Paige to restore the Power of Three with Piper and Phoebe. Once the Charmed Ones are reconstituted and factions begin to rise against the Source, the Seer continuously warns him the Charmed Ones will be his ultimate demise. This drives the Source to desperately use the Hollow to avoid his death at the hands of the Charmed Ones. The Seer even underhandedly assists in his destruction by infusing Cole with the Hollow. The Seer purposefully manipulates the Source into releasing the Hollow so that she can have the Source’s powers infused within Cole instead of being sent to the Wasteland after the Source’s death.

QUOTE
Seer: Even now I can see the void where your demon half used to exist. It craves to be complete again.

Cole: How'd you know I was still alive?

Seer: I had a vision. One where you and I do great things together.

Season 4, Episode 13, Charmed and Dangerous

QUOTE
Phoebe: I don't know who you are, but whoever you are, we thank you.

Seer: Oh, I didn't do this for your future, I did it for mine.

Paige: I don't understand, if we got our powers back, where did the Source's go?

Seer: Into the void.

Season 4, Episode 13, Charmed and Dangerous

With the Source destroyed by the Charmed Ones, and without the leadership of Prue, the Halliwells are susceptible to her manipulations of ensuring the Twice-Blessed heir is born within demonic influence. The Seer works with the Source-Possessed Cole to plot the birth of the Twice-Blessed Child. However, she intends to betray its parents once the baby is conceived within evil’s influence and fulfill her plan of using the baby’s power to rule the Underworld.

QUOTE
Seer: Holy matrimony will be the worst possible thing that could happen. It'll keep you from ever reigning as the Source.

Cole: That can't be right.

Seer: It's what I foresee. Unless of course you cancel the wedding.

Cole: I can't. I need Phoebe.

Seer: Yes, I can see that too.

Cole: We've been through this. Cole's love for Phoebe still exists within me, I can't overcome it. If I'm to regain what I've lost it has to be with Phoebe, marrying her.

Seer: Even if it means losing your son?

Cole: A son? You saw a son in my future?

Seer: More than a son. You and Phoebe Halliwell will produce the most powerful child the magical world has ever seen.

Cole: That's my boy.

Seer: No, he won't be your boy, he'll be theirs. On the side of good. Unless you marry the witch in a dark way.

Season 4, Episode 15, Marry Go Round

QUOTE
Seer: If my fertility ritual fails, the show's over anyway. Tomorrow's harvest moon will be the one chance to impregnate your wife. The power of the moon combined with this tonic will make her fertile to a demon's seed, and override any preventative measures she's taken. Her favourite sweet?

Cole: Chocolate.

Seer: Then I'll mix it with the chocolate. You must feed it to her in the morning, and then finish the job when the moon is high in the night's sky. And if you succeed, the evil spawn growing inside her will influence her only for lenience so that when she does discover the truth, she will bend to your will.

Season 4, Episode 16, The Fifth Halliwheel

QUOTE
Seer: I've been waiting for you.

Phoebe: Get away from me. You can't have him!

Seer: I only want what's mine!

Season 4, Episode 21, Womb Raider

QUOTE
Phoebe: My baby.

Seer: He was never yours, or Cole's. From the moment of conception this baby was mine.

Season 4, Episode 21, Womb Raider

QUOTE
Seer: To be your Source, to start a new evil order, to kill the Charmed Ones, this was my vision from the beginning. Every council leader here will reap the rewards...

Season 4, Episode 21, Womb Raider

However, the Seer underestimates Prue’s replacement. Although, not raised with Prue’s familial responsibility or influence over the other Charmed Ones, Paige has her own sense of moral integrity that makes her aware of the transition taking place within the family. Although, because Paige doesn’t have Prue’s influence, she is ignored until it is almost too late. In the end, the Seer is thwarted and Piper ends up producing the Twice-Blessed heir as she gives birth at roughly the same time Phoebe would have birthed her child. Wyatt's birth is pre-mature as he is born six weeks early. Phoebe was eight weeks pregnant when she lost her child in Womb Raider, and Piper learned of her pregnancy the very next episode in Which Way Now?

QUOTE
Doctor: Your hormone levels are unusually high for a mother in her eighth week. Have you seen a doctor since you found out you were pregnant?

Phoebe: I was under the care of a Seer.

Piper: It's kind of like a new age doctor.

Season 4, Episode 21, Womb Raider

QUOTE
Piper: What are we doing? Why are we sitting here? We need to go to the hospital now.

Leo: You need to relax. Your water broke, it's no need to panic.

Piper: No, you are wrong. My due date is six weeks away. This baby is not ready to come out. Please, take me to the hospital.

Season 5, Episode 15, The Day the Magic Died

However, the Seer's removal of Prue still results in the Twice-Blessed heir becoming evil without the Seer's direct influence. Piper and Phoebe turn down a selfish path and lose their original focus of innocents first. Paige being the lone witch investigating evil magical turmoils dies when battling the Titans, leaving only Piper and Phoebe to become goddesses to destroy them. Leo still becomes an Elder, but is in out of his family’s life, which leads to his and Piper's divorce shortly after Chris is born. “Phoeme" is most likely globe trotting with Jason and has given up being a witch. Later, Piper dies when Chris is about 14 and Wyatt is 15/16. Leo is still in and out, which is why Victor ends up raising the boys.

QUOTE
Chris: Look, where I come from, history shows Paige didn't get turned into stone on this day... she died. And with her death the Power of Three died too, allowing Titans to rule and create a world you don't wanna see, trust me. I'm hear to alter history. To help you save the future.

Season 5, Episode 22, Oh My Goddess, Part 1

QUOTE
Chris: Let me guess. Piper asked you here to find out what's wrong with me, right?

Victor: She just wants to know why she's such a terrible mother.

Chris: She what? No, no, she's great.

Victor: Then why are you treating her like she doesn't exist? Chris. If what we do is talk, talk to me.

Chris: Because she doesn't exist in my future, okay? She dies when I turn fourteen.

Season 6, Episode 17, Hyde School Reunion

QUOTE
Leo: Can we talk?

Chris: There's nothing to talk about.

Leo: I think there is. Quite a bit, actually.

Chris: It doesn't matter.

Leo: It does to me, Chris. You're my son. I think I deserve to know what I did that's so bad.

Chris: You were never there for me. You were there for everybody else. For mom, Wyatt, half the world, but you were never there for me. You didn't have the time.

Season 6, Episode 18, Spin City

Wyatt grows in his misuse of his powers and when Gideon confronts him, secretly trying to kill him behind Leo’s back, Wyatt murders the Elder. This turns Wyatt into the ultimate evil and he quite possibly goes on to kill Phoebe, Leo and Victor. Thus, Wyatt unknowingly fulfills the Seer’s intentions of corrupting the Twice-Blessed Child. Chris while not evil, is only good when considering the state of his chaotic world. Still, he plans to go back in time to prevent his brother from becoming evil. A good oracle tells Chris that Wyatt’s path to evil started when the Power of Three was broken, which allowed someone close to him to turn him evil. Thinking the oracle is speaking about when the Power of Three was broken after Wyatt’s birth (Paige’s death by the Titans) Chris travels to this time. However, the oracle meant the first time the Power of Three was broken (Prue’s death by Shax), which the Seer orchestrated to remove the most influential moral compass of the Charmed Ones.

Luckily for Chris, Paige is a moral compass just like Prue, although not growing up with her sisters made her less influential on Piper and Phoebe. However, because Chris helps Paige survive the Titans she goes on to help raise him and Wyatt. Paige is able to help guide the future generation on the path of good as the replacement moral compass of the Halliwell family. This is why Wyatt claims Paige taught him how to be a Whitelighter, to be good and put innocents first.

QUOTE
Future Wyatt: Nothing. It’s just…who do you think teaches me to be a Whitelighter?

Paige: Me?

Future Wyatt: Well, I guess I better get going. Not that it matters with time travel and all, but…just to be safe. Aunt Paige? Thanks for everything you’re about to do for me.

(He hugs Paige.)

Paige: Oh, well, you’re welcome, I think.

Season 7, Episode 20, Imaginary Fiends

So saving Paige, the moral compass of the Charmed Ones, is what saves Wyatt. Chris, does remember saving the Power of Three is only part of saving Wyatt, so he sticks around to find out who gets close enough to Wyatt to turn him. He initially thinks it is a demon, and overlooks Gideon. Chris staying in the past, however, does help out Gideon as the extremist he really is and expose his role in turning Wyatt evil much earlier than in the original timeline.

In the end, while Melinda foresaw Prue, Piper, and Phoebe as the Charmed Ones, the Seer uses her foreknowledge to produce Paige as a means of infiltrating the Warren line for her own gain. However, the Charmed destiny uses the hiccup caused by the Seer against her by ensuring Paige gains a moral compass similar to Prue. The fated death of the Matthews (and Paige’s panic-orbing survival) pushes Paige to become a responsible young woman who pursues doing the right thing over her own selfish desires to make her adoptive parents proud. This moral integrity that is instilled in Paige assures that the Charmed Ones both vanquish the Source and prepare the future generation of the Warren line for good rather than evil.

QUOTE
Paige: Let go of me! I have to save them!

Leo: They're gone.

Paige: Why did you bring me back here? Why! I thought I could stop the accident.

Leo: You couldn't stop the accident because it was never your fault.

Paige: It was my fault. It was my fault.

Leo: They would have died anyway, it was their destiny. Just like it was your destiny to be saved by magic.

Paige: That's how I got out of the car. I orbed out.

Leo: That's right.

Paige: I could always orb?

Leo: Magic's always been inside of you. It saved you because you were meant to do great things with it, and you have, and you will. This is what you came back here to find, what caused the accident, why you survived it. You need to forgive yourself.

Season 4, Episode 10, A Paige From the Past

QUOTE
Paige (Voice Over): As for me? Life without demons opened up similar avenues. Henry of course, continued to look after his parolees, even if they didn’t want to be looked after… while still making time to help me with little Henry and the twins. Which allowed me time to finally embrace my inner Whitelighter. And to help the next generation of witches come into their own.

Piper (Voice Over): So that Paige could pass on all that she’d learned, not just to her own children, or to mine, or to Phoebe’s…but to other future witches and Whitelighters as well. Which filled the time between when we were doing the fighting, and when our kids were old enough to take over.

Season 8, Episode 22, Forever Charmed

So that’s my convoluted theory or fanon on the reason behind Prue's death, Paige's existence and the melodrama of Wyatt’s struggle between good and evil and the importance of Chris’ time traveling. What do you guys think?

---------------------------

Someone had responded with the question below:

QUOTE
Thus, for the idea of Chris now remembering that saving Wyatt is about more than just saving Paige to make sense, his memory had to have somehow gotten caught up to the newly-created timeline in which Paige is alive yet Wyatt is still evil.

-Did he at some point travel back and forth off-screen and recover the memories of his changed timeline?

This was my response:

This is the most probable explanation, and it actually happens on-screen. Chris saves Paige in Season 5, Episode 22, Oh My Goddess. Bianca later takes Chris back to the future in Season 6, Episode 10, Chris-Crossed. When Bianca takes Chris back to the future, after he had saved Paige from the Titans, he probably gains his new memories of the timeline where Paige was saved, but Wyatt is still evil. So, when Chris escapes back into the past a second time during this episode he takes those updated memories with him. After he returns to the past, it isn’t until Episode 18 of Season 6, Spin City, that Chris mentions Paige loaning him money.

QUOTE
Piper: So that's it? You're just gonna leave?

Chris: I don't have a choice. She strip my powers. Looks like Leo's gonna have to fix that floorboard without me. Let's go.

(Bianca waves her arm and a portal opens.)

[Cut to the manor. Future. The portal opens and Chris and Bianca walk out of it. Six demons are waiting for them.]

Voice: Welcome home, Chris.

(The demons part and a man is standing in the dark. He moves into light.)

Chris: Hello, Wyatt.

Season 6, Episode 10, Chris-Crossed

QUOTE
Bianca: If you can finish what we started... (Wyatt groans.) Hurry. Take the spell so he can't send anyone else. Go.

(Chris runs over to the Book of Shadows. Wyatt gets up.)

Chris: "Hear these words, hear the rhyme, heed the hope within my mind... (Wyatt throws an energy ball towards Chris and he ducks.) Send me back to where I'll find, what I wish in place and time."

(The portal opens and Chris runs into it.)

[Scene: Present. Manor. Attic. Chris lands hard on the floor.]

Paige: Oh my god, are you okay?

Chris: Yeah, I'm fine.

Season 6, Episode 10, Chris-Crossed

QUOTE
Paige: See, that's where I'd ask for money to go to the movies.

Chris: Very funny. Actually, in the future, you're the one I go to for money.

Paige: Ooh, why, am I rich?

Chris: I can't tell you that.
