"-angle?"

Sage's expression pops as his intuition picks up on the presence of a high-powered weapon nearby. His eyes track the artifact's location as the two men pass behind the market stall, his lip curling into a smile. (That'll do.) The dragon begins to take in more of his surroundings to make it easier to backtrack to the correct merchant's stall.

"I hope we happen upon this friend of yours soon," Sage says, dragging his focus back to Ezra. The darklighter appears to be as surly as ever. (He needs a vice. A good lay, a good high... something to take the edge off.)

Sage is still interested in meeting this power broker acquaintance. The Tathlum is powerful, but it's still a physical tool which will be cumbersome compared to an innately held power. Especially with how flashy and ornate it seems to be from the mental image he formed of it. Though its firepower will be tough to match. "If not, I may have a purchase to make."

Thornton has never cared for the Underworld Market.

It's filled with opportunistic, quick-tempered imbeciles. He half-expects a shootout to erupt whenever he's down here. Thornton raises a brow indignantly at a red-skinned demon; honestly, he doesn't know why he bothers with this lot. (Morons, all of them.) Straightening his black tie, Thornton sweeps the marketplace with a steely gaze.

(Where is that little shit?)

Ezra's the little shit in question. While he finds the demon's ambition and laser-focus commendable, Thornton feels uneasy around him. Not scared, no. Deeply uneasy. There's a quiet rage simmering in Ezra. It puts Thornton on edge; what's he capable of? Thornton has survived for a long while because he's kept away from explosive types.

Ezra's a ticking bomb with a cherub face.

"I hope we happen upon this friend of yours soon."

Thornton, face screwed into an incredulous look, turns around.

"If not, I may have a purchase to make."

(Who the fuck is this?) Thornton rolls his eyes. Naturally, this meeting wouldn't be a one-and-done type of deal. Now he has to size-up Ezra's acquaintance and factor in what his appearance here means. "Plenty of purchases to be made," he says, drinking in the sight of Sage.

"Take your pick."

Dark eyes shifting to Ezra, he speaks: "Nice work with the amulet."

No good deed goes unpunished.

“…If not, I may have a purchase to make."

(Ugh.) Ezra’s face remains neutral as he listens to Sage’s revelation. The dragon finding a prize elsewhere could throw a spanner in the works, and it irks the demon. However, Ez ultimately knows he’ll make it work one way or another. He has no choice but to. (Can things just go smoothly for once?)

"Plenty of purchases to be made, take your pick."

A look of surprise etches across Ezra’s face as Thornton snaps around. Distaste reads plainly on the broker’s face and it doesn’t take long for the darklighter to register why that may be. (He’s tried and failed to take Hilly’s powers…)

"Nice work with the amulet."

(He knows about the amulet?!)

A jolt of panic echoes through Ezra. He certainly didn’t expect the daemon to be so forward and it sets him on edge. His defences immediately rise. He puffs out his chest. Pushes back his shoulders and looks Thornton in the eye with a daring glare. There will be no intimidation happening here.

(Well this has royally screwed my plans)

“It became of interest to Odio and the council.” Ezra throws the weight of his mistress’ name behind his words. Challenging his possession of the amulet is a direct challenge of the council themselves. Surely Thornton isn’t stupid enough to do that? “No hard feelings.” (Not likely.)

As if summoned by his words, Thorn accosts them as the three men cross paths. Sage comes to a stop, but doesn't interject as the other two parse some words out over their dissolved business relationship. Remaining silent, Sage hangs back. There's some tension in the air and he'd rather stay out of the crossfire.

(Odio?) Sage isn't familiar with the name. However, the way Ezra designated her as being separate from the council that oversees the darklighters in his words, it's clear that this Odio wields some influence - especially with the way that Ez uses it as though the name itself is a weapon. He's very interested to see Thornton's reaction to that.

"It just so happens that we were seeking you out," Sage says, stepping forward and finally inserting himself into the situation. Maybe he can help the salvage this and at least make off with a little something for himself. (Worst case scenario, I go back for the Tathlum a couple stalls back.) "Isn't that right, Ez?"

Sage isn't sure how much Ezra wants to reveal to Thornton, but the fact remains that the darklighter still needs to convince him to continue to be a distraction. He will just have to change the bait.
