Age & Number Limit

With regard to age, a Playable Character (PC) should be at least eighteen. The game is taking place during the start of 2038, so when picking your character's age be sure to use the corresponding years. If a character is twenty-seven, use the following method; 2038 - 27 = 2011. Please see the Game Day Settings at the top of the page within location-based forums for the current in-game date.

Also note that a member's character limit is staggered based upon activity and the current number of playable locations open on the board. Playable locations are defined as any Earth location and the Otherworld. If you have any question about your activity level affecting your ability to take on additional characters, then message a staff member directly to ask.

  • 0-30 days = 1 playable character
  • 31-90 days = 2 PCs + 1 adopted PC*
  • >90 days = 1 PC per location + 1 adopted PC*
  • After 6 months (or 180 days), players are eligible to join the Writing Staff and play any number of assigned NPCs. These day counters are based off of a player's first in-character post and rely on a player's continued activity.

Please be sure to register any new characters under their own account. The jcink forums allows you to link accounts together. This enables you to switch between character accounts with the click of a button.

*A list of adoptable characters can be found here

    Profile Graphics

There are four images associated with your character around the board including their avatar, main and mini profile images, and an image used in their character bio and power record.

The first and most important image is the avatar which is limited to 250x350. There are also two profile images. The first is the main profile image which is 155x100 and the second is the mini profile image which is 125x125. Finally, you will need an image for your character biography (which doubles as your character's power record image) at a size of 530x250.

No images used should contain any graphic imagery of an NC-17 nature including either gore or sexually explicit content. Graphics can be requested here.

    Character Locations

As you may have noticed, from perusing through our site, our RP world is not based on a free-form format. Instead, we use a specific form of linear plot progression (dictated by the global Game Day Settings located at the top of the board). As in most play-by-post RPs, our in-character forums serve as the "locations" throughout the RP world. Like most other RPs, each forum location acts as the building of the location. However, in our RP world, each forum location also contains staff created threads that act as the individual floors and rooms of the "building" it represents.

The purpose of this format is to make for a RP world that is readily available for character exploration. It also allows the game master to provide clues, trinkets, and hidden treasures for characters to stumble upon as they travel from location to location. Most importantly, the format helps to heighten the sense of adventure for the characters, and gives the game master a controlled environment where it is easier to moderate events. Because of this format, no character can be in more than one location at one particular time without the aide of special powers or magics.

    Jumping Locations

As your your Original Character travels through the RP world by leaving one location to head to another, please do not jump over certain threads to get to a desired location. Mainly what we mean by this is do not jump from one forum to the next without reasonable in-game actions. For example, traveling from San Francisco to Istanbul won't happen instantaneously, especially if your character does not possess any type of "teleportation" power. All characters within the game are bound to the laws of physics without the assistance of magic.

    Personal Spell Books

A perk of Charmed: After of Prophecy is that players get to create personal spell books for IN-CHARACTER use. A thread kept in the Spell Books forum will serve as a log of the spells, potion recipes, and other magical knowledge or personal experiences your Playable Character writes down. Below are the rules and guidelines for maintaining a character's spell book:

    1. Do not post spells, potions, or information that has appeared in the Halliwell's Book of Shadows in your character's personal spell book. The only information allowed in your spell book thread is information created by you and written in game play by your character.

    2. Before posting information in your spell book thread, you must have your character perform the action during game play. Once this in-character post has occurred you may go to your personal spell book thread and post the information utilizing the appropriate posting format.

    Sample Post:

Wyatt sits at the kitchen table and writes an Invisibility Spell into his spell book.

    3. You are not allowed to edit old in-character posts to add more entries into your spell books. That is considered cheating. You must put your character in a NEW situation to add new information to a personal spell book. If you can not put your character into a situation to add new information wait until you are able to. Editing abilities can be stripped from players unable to adhere to this rule.
